ASYMCA Receives 4-Star Rating from Leading Independent Charity Evaluator

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) has received an “Exceptional” rating from Charity Navigator for the fourth straight year. The designation recognizes ASYMCA for consistently executing its mission to enrich the lives of junior enlisted personnel and their families in a fiscally responsible way.

Organizations reviewed receive zero to four stars based on their ability to efficiently manage and grow finances. As America’s premier independent charity evaluator, Charity Navigator reviews the financial health of more than 5,500 of America’s largest charities, providing donors with objective, reliable assessments of the financial health of their chosen charity.

“We are proud of this continued recognition for the stewardship of our operations as we strive to support America’s military families,“ said ASYMCA National Executive Director S. Frank Gallo. “As an organization that relies on the donations of charitable individuals and corporations, we take the management of their resources very seriously, and, as this rating indicates, put them to good use in support of the brave men and women of our armed services and their families.”

The four-star rating indicates that ASYMCA exceeds industry standards. Only 8 percent of charities rated by Charity Navigator have received four or more consecutive four-star evaluations.

“This ‘exceptional’ designation differentiates the Armed Services YMCA from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust,” said Ken Berger, President and CEO of Charity Navigator.
