Camp Hero

To provide an academic bridge between the school year, the staff developed Camp Hero in 2006 to improving children’s social skills, self esteem, and ability to make and keep friends, management of feelings, and coping with the deployments of family members. Each of the four sites conducted three sessions of two weeks. Since the students do not have homework to complete during the summer, all four sites selected the same area of study which was The Mad Scientist where students learned about the scientific method and conducted experiments.
