Operation Kid Comfort
In 2010, the branch started a new program, Operation Kid Comfort. Working with a group of quilters, families of deployed service members will be able to request a quilt be made for each military child. The family provides photos of the deployed family member that are copied onto fabric and sent to the quilters. The quilters use their materials and incorporate the photos into the quilt. The program significantly expanded in 2012 providing over 457 quilts to military children of deployed service members. The branch has provided 1,250 quilts to children of service members stationed on Camp Pendleton, CA.
