School of Infantry Concrete Beach

Another key program at the School of Infantry is weekly barbeques, Concrete Beach for Marine students in the Infantry Training Battalion and Marine Combat Training Battalion. Each year approximately 44 Concrete Beaches are held. Each battalion consists of five training companies with an average of 300 students. The Infantry Training Battalion companies have their event following the students 20km hike; while Marine Combat Training Battalion holds their event following a very intensive three day field exercise. The Concrete Beaches are held at one easily accessible area, near their classrooms, for ease in scheduling and reduce the time to march the students to the site and to allow the maximum amount of time for the program. This unique, one of kind program increases both the student’s and instructor’s morale. For the military students, it provides some time relax, with many students talking about this event well after their graduation from school; and for the instructors, it allows them some “down time” to plan future training for the students.
