The ASY is recruiting for our Child Development team at both our Regional and Sewells Point Before and After School locations. Lead Teacher/Bus Driver  

Hours: Split shift Mon-Fri 7am-9am and 2:45pm-5pm

The Lead Teacher/Bus Driver is a part-time position and is responsible for the safety, care and transportation of the children in the Child Development Program under the guidance of the Program Director. This position is open at both our regional office as well as our Sewells Point location, but travel to either location may occasionally be required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Daily communication with parents and children
  • Communicate program concerns and problems to supervisor
  • Assist children with homework daily
  • Encourage children to use self-help skills where applicable
  • All bus drivers must go through a training process with the lead bus driver
  • Head counts of all passengers must be done while entering and exiting the bus
  • Keep the first aid supplies current

Operation Hero Facilitator  

Hours: Mon-Fri 2:45pm-5pm

The Operation Hero Facilitator is a part-time seasonal position. Operation Hero is an afterschool mentoring program for at-risk military children. As facilitator, your job is to build relationships with the children, guide their learning through established curriculum, implement play and group therapy techniques and ultimately to guide them in the process improving in our 7 target areas: Handling Stress, Interacting Socially, Respect for Authority & Others, Communicating Non-Aggressively, Growing Self-Esteem, Responsibility in Completing Classroom Assignments, & Overall Academic Growth. Travel to our headquarters office may occasionally be required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the implementation of the Operation Hero tutorial and counseling program.
  • Develop weekly lessons plans based on the Operation Hero curriculum, a minimum of one week prior to program week.
  • Maintain an organized, safe and clean program space.
  • Complete all required documentation, to include not be limited to: attendance reports, weekly reports, supply requests, accident/incident reports, and behavior log reports.
