In the early stages of child development, it is important to provide exciting opportunities for a child’s mind to explore and flourish. The popular Playmorning program offers learning readiness activities for military children ages birth to five years old that promote social skills, creativity, literacy, and fine and large motor skills.

An array of developmentally appropriate activities are supplied while parents, children, and trained coordinators have fun learning together through free play, crafts, circle time, singing, and storytelling. Coordinators model appropriate behavior in dealing with various issues that arise with children, discuss age appropriateness of activities, and furnish information and resource material to the participants.

This approach increases positive parent to child interaction, the parent’s knowledge of child development, provides a social outlet for parents and thus helps reduce stress and social isolation sometimes experienced by military families.
