Warrior Care Initiative
Every wounded warrior who is medically evacuated to Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMC) is met upon arrival by ASY staff or volunteer. In addition to providing a gift of appreciation and resource guide, the ASY assesses the non-medical needs of wounded warriors and their families. Frequent urgent needs include: transportation, cell phones, financial assistance, along with other specialized requests like flights to unite families, childcare. adaptive clothing, and lodging.
Throughout hospitalization and rehab ASY sponsors monthly Town Hall luncheons for wounded warriors, their families, and providers. At this open forum warriors and their family members learn about resources and address concerns to their providers. NMC Comprehensive Combat and Complex Casualty Care (C5) is the west coast center of excellence for amputee care. As a member of C5, the ASY works closely with the team to make sure the non-medical needs of wounded warriors and their families are continually addressed throughout treatment and rehabilitation.
*Service Member must have in-patient status at Naval Medical Center to be eligible for this program. Please contact Alysha at email@example.com for information about being placed on an interest list.
