Operation Hero- While in Operation Hero, the Military children learn many life lessons about themselves, friends, family, and their heritage. During these lessons, they are always asked by the ASY staff to talk about things that they didn’t know that have surprised them. The biggest thing that is brought up by the kids is all the things they learn about bullies. It turns out that some behavior that not only their classmates have, but they have as well, is considered bullying. This is very shocking to them, as it is something they had never realized it before. Now that they are able to recognize what it is, that have told staff that they understand how to deal with it in an appropriate manner. A few of the students even made a point to apologize to those who they bullied in the past, which will hopefully make a difference in that child’s future.
