Making an Impact

The ASYMCA of Alaska believes that all service members and their families deserve support, enrichment, recognition, security, independence, and opportunities to improve their family bond, family resiliency, and health/wellness. To aid in our efforts, we provide over 20 programs and services designed to directly address the needs of our military and their families as identified by military leadership. This arsenal of programs help to alleviate stress, assist with life challenges, and increase the morale and welfare of our nation’s heroes, enabling them to better focus on their mission of service.

Operation: Frosty Warrior

During the month of December the Armed Services YMCA will send a gift shipment to Alaska-based service members deployed during the holidays. These heroes have to spend the holidays overseas, away from their family—this season let’s show them how much they mean to our community! You can choose to donate funds toward care packages that we will shop, wrap and ship on your behalf, or you can commit to creating care packages that we will pick up and ship for you.

Operation Kid Comfort: Request a Quilt!

This program provides children of deployed service members a quilt or pillow with pictures of the deployed service member and the family. This program is designed to comfort and help children during the deployment. We have wonderful volunteer quilters who meet once-a-month to sew these quilts and pillows.

Learn how to access this program, and how these quilts impact the lives of the littlest members of our military community by clicking the link below.

Operation Ride Home

The Armed Services YMCA, in partnership with Jack Daniels, brings troops home for the holidays with Operation Ride Home. Eligible service members and their families receive funding towards travel from their duty station to spend time with their loved ones back home.
