Y ON WHEELS SHUTTLE DRIVER, EAFB

STATUS Part-Time Non-Exempt, Eielson Branch

Basic Job PurposeUnder the supervision of the Program Director, the Shuttle Van Driver ensures safe transportation of all riders to various destinations on Eielson Air Force Base (EAFB).

Functions and Duties:

  • Operate and maintain the ASYMCA Shuttle in a safe manner
  • Comply with all motor vehicle regulations on EAFB
  • Be familiar with the roads, housing areas and commonly used facilities on the installation
  • Routinely check vehicle fluid levels – oil, windshield washer, etc. and replenish as needed 
  • Immediately report all vehicle mechanical problems to the Program Director
  • Clean vehicle interior, including vacuuming floors and cleaning windows, as needed 
  • Remove all debris or garbage left behind by passengers at the end of each shift
  • Maintain records such as passenger sign in rosters and fuel purchases
  • Be courteous to all passengers and other drivers on EAFB roadways
  • Become familiar with ASYMCA programs and services and educate passengers on other opportunities offered to them by our organization
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director

Working Conditions:

  • Be able to drive a van or minibus throughout 6 to 7 hour shifts.
  • Able to do daily accounting paperwork and handle money.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving vehicle(s).
  • Possess the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • Must be customer service oriented with good phone and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a valid Alaska Drivers License.
  • Must have a clean driving abstract.
  • Must have 20/20 vision or vision corrected to 20/20.
  • Must be able to drive in hours of darkness (night driving).
  • Must have knowledge of basic vehicle functions and minor maintenance, e.g. change a flat tire, add oil, washer fluid, charge battery, etc.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Post Hire Requirements:

  • Pass a background check.
  • May occasionally be expected to work at special events outside normal working hours, including occasional weekends.
