United States Air Force General Paul Selva will take the stage as Keynote Speaker for the ASYMCA's Angels of the Battlefield Awards Gala on Tuesday, October 2, at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia. Gen. Selva serves as the 10th Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this capacity, he is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the nation’s second highest-ranking military officer.
The Angels of the Battlefield Awards Gala is an Armed Services YMCA signature event that honors the individual men and women on the front lines who are saving lives and have demonstrated extraordinary courage. Each year, the Armed Services YMCA recognizes a single individual from each military branch for their accomplishments.
General Selva, Keynote Speaker for Angels of the Battlefield Awards Gala

General Selva graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1980, and completed undergraduate pilot training at Reese AFB, Texas. He has held numerous staff positions and has commanded at the squadron, group, wing and headquarter levels. Prior to his current assignment General Selva was the commander of U.S. Transportation Command, Scott AFB, Illinois.
Selva has earned several prestigious awards throughout his career such as the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Service Medal and the Defense Superior Service Medal. All recognize exceptional performance.
