The Armed Services YMCA Camp Pendleton hosted our Annual Dinner Celebration of Service on March 6th at Pacific Views Events Center.
Our Annual Dinner Celebration of Service celebrates the work that our Donors, Volunteers, and Staff do throughout the year. At this year’s event we recognized Robert Mandich as our Individual Donor of the Year – 2019. Robert Mandich has been an incredible supporter and donor to the Armed Services YMCA for the past 5 years, and due to his support, we were able to create the Bob Mandich Scholarship Fund. We then recognized The Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation as our Foundation Donor of the Year – 2019. The Ekstrom Foundation has supported our School of Infantry Recreation Center for the past 3 years. With their support the SOI School of Infantry rec center is able to give Marine students a place to relax and recharge on the weekends. Steve Silverstein accepted the award on behalf of the foundation. Our 2019 Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Signe Johnson. Ms. Johnson has dedicated over 400 hours of service, the most hours of any of our volunteers. At the dinner we honored two of our Operation Little Learner Teachers, Ms. Tassy and Ms. Chris. The pair have been with the Armed Services YMCA Camp Pendleton since 1995, we are celebrating their 25th anniversaries throughout 2020. Ms. Tassy and Ms. Chris have worked in various departments over the years and have impacted the lives of many military families. We are proud to have the two as a part of our team. And finally, Maria Paige was awarded 2019 Employee of the Year. Maria has been with the ASYMCA for 3 years, starting her journey with the Armed Services YMCA as an intern and is now our Program Director. Maria is a big part of our team and we are proud of all of her contributions she has made for military families.
The evening was sponsored by Anxiety.org, Dowling & Yahnke, Frontwave, Lincoln Military Housing, Jess & Sheri Bressi, George & Meryl Young, and Bev & Scott Mason. We want to thank our sponsors for their continual support!
