On Saturday, February 18, 2017, the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska will be hosting their 40th Annual Salute to the Military — a formal banquet that celebrates the accomplishments of 12 outstanding military service members, ranked E6 or below. Each branch of military service, including active duty, guard, and reserves, selects one exceptional Alaskan service member who has exemplified integrity and service before self throughout their military careers.
This year’s Salute to the Military marks the 40th year of honoring the best of Alaska’s military, and is the longest running military appreciation event in Alaska. Salute to the Military is also one of the largest events of its kind, averaging over 400 attendees, including community partners and supporters; over 100 junior enlisted service members; military leadership; members of the Alaska delegation; and honorary event chair, Senator Lisa Murkowski.
The ASYMCA of Alaska is pleased to have as our keynote speaker, Admiral Harry B. Harris, Jr., Commander of U.S. Pacific Command. The Annual Salute to the Military will also include performances from the Anchorage Community Concert Band.
