This summer, nearly 300 military children ages 4-12 are registered to attend the Summer of Dreams youth summer camp program provided by the Armed Services YMCA of Killeen! The Summer of Dreams camp is held from June 4th through August 24th at nine local Texas schools. Click here to view camp locations. The camp curriculum allows participating youth to choose between an all day camp or specialty camps to satisfy their interests. Specialty camps include basketball, cooking class, denim design, fitness, Tae Kwon Do and more!
“It’s important for us to have a diverse and enriching curriculum,” said Travis Knight, Associate Executive Director of the Wellness Center at ASYMCA Killeen. “We want to help find a program that fits each child’s interests, works well for the family and provides each child with a lifetime of memories.”
Each week, children enrolled in the day camp participate in a variety of fun, challenging and enriching activities, including field trips, outdoor swimming and more. Summer of Dreams camp staff are committed to ensuring a fun and safe summer, while also instilling invaluable life skills like leadership development, problem solving and conflict management.
“ASYMCA summer camps are a great example of how our branches meet the ASYMCA mission of strengthening our military family,” said ASYMCA President, William French. “The Summer of Dreams camps offer the entire package. The curriculum is designed to stimulate each child’s physical, social, intellectual and emotional development.”
