Operation Kid Comfort, operated at The Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg, provides custom quilts and pillows to the children of deployed service members stationed in North and South Carolina. Quilts are provided at no cost to the families receiving them.
In order for Operation Kid Comfort to be successful, the Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg depends on volunteer quilters located throughout the country. At this time, we are looking to recruit additional quilters to keep up with demand!
Quilters can participate as a group/club or as an individual and we kindly request quilts to be returned within 2 months of receiving all materials. The Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg can provide you with quilt kits (containing everything needed to create the quilts) or you are welcome to provide your own materials and we simply supply the personalized photos for each family. Additionally, if you do not live locally we are willing to pay for shipping to get the necessary materials to you for assembly as well as return shipping costs.
Simply put - we are extremely flexible and will work with our volunteer quilters. Military families are reliant on this program to cope with the stress of deployment and separation.
If you are a quilter or would like more information, please contact Trinette Slaughter at firstname.lastname@example.org or 910-436-0500. Also if you are not a quilter but would like to assist in preparing the quilting kits, please contact Trinette. We are always in need of assistance in this area.
