EL PASO -- Preschoolers romped and played in their classroom Wednesday at the Armed Services YMCA Child Development Center, which has nearly completed a $95,000 renovation.
The majority of the work took place over the past two months with nearly no interruption in service.
Each of its six classrooms, which are tailored to specific age groups ranging from infants to school-aged children, has been completely renovated, including new tile flooring and carpeting, as well as tables, chairs and storage units appropriate for the children.
A new computer system that expands teachers' access to teaching materials and other resources available on the Internet was also installed.
Kristie Blackman, a mother of three, said she visited several child-care centers before choosing the YMCA. Her 2-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son are enrolled at the center.
She said that she is happy to see the changes.
