82nd Combat Aviation Brigade Pegasus Priority Program Presents: Empowerment Through Vulnerability December 8, 2020, Noon – 1:30pm
“Owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy...”
Join us as we discuss the empowerment that comes from granting yourself the grace to be vulnerable. Vulnerability is the driving force behind authentic human connection as well as a necessary ingredient for lasting relationships. During this session learn tools to help you let go of who you think you are supposed to be in order to embrace who you truly are.
Discuss how to lose the fear of showing your true self to the world by shattering the stigma associated with the thoughts of being vulnerable. Break habits of avoidance or escapism and enhance personal growth and relationships via honest reflection and engagement.
Special Guest: Mrs. Lorelei Garrett is the Senior Command Spouse of the United States Army Forces Command (US FORSCOM). Lorelei met her husband in 1987 when he was 1LT Michael Garrett. At that time, she was serving as an Army Military Intelligence Officer at Fort Stewart, Georgia, and he was serving in 1st Ranger Battalion located in Savannah, Georgia. The Garretts married in 1988 in Korea and have continued to move since. In addition to her own military service, Lorelei’s participation in Soldier and Family Readiness and Spouse Groups has long been her passion and a large part of her support to the military.
Lorelei is extremely proud of her two children, Samantha and Michael. Samantha is an Elementary School Educator, married to an Active Duty Soldier, and Michael serves in the 101st Airborne Division (AA). Lorelei attained her BS in Math Programming and a Masters in General Administration, and returned to school for her RN while in Columbus, Georgia. She is thankful to work part-time in the medical profession throughout their military travels.
Lorelei is an outdoor adventurer whose hobbies include hiking, biking, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and she looks forward to golfing, again, in the future. She revels in time spent with family and friends, travel, crafts, and anything which brings an opportunity to bond and laugh with others. Alaska remains her favorite assignment.
