Armed Services YMCA's Five Star Kids Pre-K is Getting Ready for 2022!
We had a BLAST in Pre-K this Fall! After completing our first unit, Ready for School, we moved to discussing our families and then our community, focusing on Community Helpers. We talked about how our families are unique and that we are all part of the greater community. Students learned to make comparisons and celebrate communities from all over the world. From making "Fry Bread" to basic bread to pumpkin bread, they learned to use all of their senses.
To learn even more about our community, we had three weeks of visits by some of our amazing local community helpers; including the Virginia Beach Fire Department, Virginia Beach Police Officers, FedEx, a representative from Lynnhaven River Now and many more. Through our partnership with Lynnhaven River Now, our Pre-K program earned the distinguished honor of becoming a Pearl School. This honor was celebrated during our Christmas Show where our class sang songs and each student was congratulated on a successful semester.
Everyone is so excited to see what adventures await us in the new year!
