Back to school in Hampton Roads

Summer is just flying by us over here. Our Summer Campers have been making the most of their summer. With trips to the aquarium, Busch Gardens and a cruise on the Spirit of Norfolk - they haven't let their summer go to waste. We can’t believe that school starts in just two weeks! Are you ready for the shift back to school? Here's a short list of tips and resources as you start to prepare for that Back-to-School transition. Still in the market for after school care? Check out our Before and After School Program!

  • Get back into that school time routine the week or two before school actually begins. We all know that first week of school is always EXHAUSTING. Help your kiddos and yourself by breaking out the school year bedtime routine in advance. Allowing their body (and yours) to adjust to those earlier times now will make that first week a little bit easier!

Back to School

  • Get ready for all those school lunches! Do you (and/or your kiddos) pack lunches every day? Or get a delicious hot lunch at the school? Either way, you can get prepared in advance! For packers – have you tried making a lunch packing station like this one? For those buying lunch at school – do you qualify for free or reduced lunch or have you added money to your student's account?
  • Get those thinking brains ready! Reading for 20 minutes a day is a super-fantastic brain warm-up for getting school-year-ready. Now that the start of school is just a couple weeks away, you may be interested in some other fun brain-warm-up activities like these word searches,  some Lego brain puzzles or even a brainy morning exercise routine!
