On Friday, February 19th, Operation Little Learners (OLL) embarked on a journey to the Virginia Air & Space Center - NASA. The Center offers over 150 exhibits and is home to the Apollo 12 Command Module used in the 1969 mission to the moon. With interactive aviation exhibits spanning 100 years of flight, more than 30 historic aircrafts, a hands-on-space exploration gallery, and unique space flight artifacts, the Center proved marvelous for our little explorers. The kiddos had a blast navigating the space center, learning about the wonders beyond the stars and how technology has been advanced and used to explore them.

In our Operation Little Learners FACEBOOK GROUP, many parents expressed just how joyous the occasion was for their kiddos saying, “Thank you for such a fun day!” "The kids are already asking to go back,” and Thkids had so much fun! We'll definitely be going back with the rest of the family very soon!”

NASA_spaceshipsSince March 2020, due to COVID-19, Little Learners have been participating virtually by following along with videos and activities at home. We've been waiting a long time to sing, create, and learn together in-person again. We were finally able to get back into the building and resume face-to-face activities back in October 2020. For 2021, we are running concurrent virtual and in-person sessions.

Operation Little Learners is our preschool readiness program for parents and little ones between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. A program designed exclusively for military kids, OLL focuses on cognitive and social development to prepare young learners for success when they enter school. In addition to twice weekly sessions, OLL hosts monthly field trips and Craft & Conversation events for parents and young learners to get together and have fun. Last year, our Little Learners visited a number of Hampton Roads destinations including Hunt Club Farms for some pumpkin picking and petting zoo fun and the Virginia Living Museum. In January 2021, we hopped to the JUMP trampoline park and we just disembarked from our NASA field trip! For more information on all the great things happening next month, join our FACEBOOK GROUP or head over to our OPERATION LITTLE LEARNERS page.
