On February 7, eighty-nine of our little friends and their parents joined us at Funville in Virginia Beach... and boy did they have fun! A 4000 square foot ocean-themed indoor playground and world of wonder, Funville was the perfect place for a rainy day field trip! With countless opportunities to climb, slide, run and play safely, all of our kiddos had a blast. We even had the whole place all to ourselves for an hour on Friday morning before the facility opened to the public.
Operation Little Learners (OLL) is a program created by the Armed Services YMCA to meet the needs of military families with young children by providing a supportive environment for parents and kiddos to learn, connect and grow. This parent-and-me preschool readiness program is open to all military dependents between the ages of18 months and 5 years. Field Trips take place monthly at a variety of fun locations all over Hampton Roads.
At the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads, we believe in strengthening our military family by providing opportunities to build community. Military life is hard. Belonging to a supportive community lightens the load. Our OLL Field Trips are a way to connect to that community every month. February's Field Trip saw moms, dads and kiddos all getting in on the action! Even Miss Tessa joined in on the fun in the tunnels!
This FREE event also included lunch, and, according to one program participant, it was "the best pizza" she's had since moving to Virginia Beach. We found out that the crew at Funville makes their dough AND their sauce from scratch. All the families who attended left with happy, tired and full-bellied kiddos! One parent told us that she and her Little Learner were heading back (after nap time) with big brother since their free admission was good for the whole day.
We have so much fun every time we get together with our Operation Little Learners friends. Thanks to all the families who came out and participated in this event. We can't wait to see everyone next month. For all the up-to-date Little Learners info - follow us on Facebook, check out our Operation Little Learners page and sign up for our monthly newsletter at the bottom of our Events page.
