Have you been training? Are you ready for all this mud? And fun? We've put together a short list of tips for running in the mud.
It sounds simple, but that mud it tough. It's probably not something you think about when preparing for a road race, but it is something that becomes very important in a mud run. You want to keep those shoes on your feet! Have you ever been pushed into a pool with your clothes on? If not, you probably don’t have a big brother. But you can imagine how difficult it is to climb out with your soaking wet clothes weighing you down, right? Mud Runs are a lot like that. Because everything is more fun with a friend! Having a partner to train and run the race with will ensure that you are accountable, racing your best and, most importantly, having as much fun as possible.
You don’t want to spend all afternoon digging through mud puddles looking for your wedding ring or that chain your mom gave you, because it’s totally going to ruin your runner’s high.
It is hot, hot, hot and you're going to be running through mud. Recommended water intake is at least 16 ounces of water two hours before your run and the same for every hour you’re running. Make sure to stop along your race route and fill up!
