On November 23rd we unveiled the new renovations to our School of Infantry Recreation Center. We hosted a barbecue for more than 200 active duty Marines, community members, volunteers, and donors to celebrate the upgraded recreation center. The renovations included landscaping, fresh paint, new gaming furniture, and the installation of a mural. The newly installed mural was dedicated to the Armed Services YMCA Camp Pendleton from Michael Rosenblatt in honor of our 75th anniversary.
The improvement project was made possible by a grant awarded to the Armed Services YMCA Camp Pendleton by the Home Depot Foundation. On November 6th more than 50 volunteers from Home Depot’s district 21 came out to work on landscaping and building furniture for the center.
Our School of Infantry recreation center is a place for students to relax and recharge on the weekends. The center consists of 2 buildings with television rooms, large electronic gaming rooms with game consoles, a kitchen, outdoor patio are with televisions, 30 computers, large televisions and game tables. Representatives from the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation were present at the November 23rd barbecue. The Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation is the sole sponsor for our School of Infantry recreation center.
