Season of Thanks - Core Programs

November 26, 2019: The Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg has been overwhelmed by the generosity and support we have received in 2019. Thank you to everyone who has supported programming and Fort Bragg soldiers through donations of money, resources, time and talent. We would like to thank specific supporters below for their generosity and support of programs!

Operation Little Learners: This program is essential for early child hood development and preparing parents as a child's first teacher! Over the course of the program parents learn how to teach little ones aged 18 months to 5 years cognitive, social, and motor skills all while preparing children for pre-K and kindergarten! A special thank you to The PNC Foundation for their support of this program! Thanks to their generosity in 2020 you can expect to see use of technology integrated into the Little Learners curriculum here at Fort Bragg!

Operation Hero: This program is designed to address challenges faced by many military children such as feelings of isolation, feelings of self-doubt, frequent or long-term deployments by one or both parents and academic difficulties due to frequent moves. Through guided discussion, mentorship, and bonding students leave the program better equipped mentally, emotionally, and socially to tackle challenges they face. This year, a special thank you to The Youth Grove Stock Trust for their support, expanding the program to John Griffin Middle School in Cumberland County. Another very special thank you to The Hillsdale Fund Inc. for their support of military children through Operation Hero.

Children's Waiting Room: This child watch program is located inside Womack Army Medical Center that allows parents to attend scheduled appointments without the stress of having to find child care outside of the hospital. This program improves access to health care by removing lack of child care as a barrier. When families have the ability to drop off their children inside the hospital at no cost or low cost, they are more likely to attend scheduled appointments, and in locations with a Children’s Waiting Room, hospital administrators report a drop in no-show rates. Providing this program allows service members and spouses to make their health and well-being a priority. A very special thank you The Walmart Foundation for their generous support launching this program! We would also like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Womack Army Medical Center for helping us in our long journey to prepare and launch the program and a special thanks to the American Red Cross for their guidance and assistance.
