The Watertown Family YMCA proudly serves the Soldiers and military families of the Fort Drum Army Installation. These soldiers are the most deployed in the Army serving around the globe, including in Iraq and Afghanistan. One way the Watertown Family YMCA supports military families is through respite care and Children’s Waiting Room, allowing parents to attend critical doctor’s appointments without worry of securing childcare services outside the medical facility. Additionally, they offer Army Youth Programs in Your Neighborhood (AYPYN) for middle school youth of service members and day camps at the Fort Drum Housing areas each summer.
Military families come to Fort Drum leaving behind their extended families and support systems, so many seek out the YMCA as an entity known to them from communities across America. In YMCA programs, military children form friendships and gain confidence that will last them a lifetime.
Working with military families is an honor and a privilege. The Watertown Family YMCA is grateful to those who serve and is proud to be a resource for military families.
