Thanks to generous donations from our Hampton Roads community, the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads will be unveiling a brand-NEW playground just in time for summer. On Friday, May 14, 2021, our kiddos said goodbye to the old, bland, and uneven ground where they once spent their evenings. Enormous tractors and excavators rolled and pulled apart the old ground laying it to the side to rest. And in its place, they began laying down the foundations of what will become the new, exciting, and perfectly even playground.
Unlike the old grounds, the new playground will have a 2-Way Coaster Climber, Slides, and a Basketball Half-Court. It will even have a Trike Track, Hop Scotch area, and a 4-Square Court. We asked our kiddos what they were most excited for and most shouted for the Coaster Climber and Slides. A few of our ballers made clear their excitement for the even-steven ball court and a new hoop to get their dunks in. Our spacious new playground will also serve as a joyful story-time venue for our upcoming Pre-K program as well as for our long-awaited 2021 Summer Camp.
As the project continues, the ASYMCA of Hampton Roads is still seeking donations to complete the playground with additional and new equipment for our kiddos to have the most cheerful time out in the sun.
