Dixon, Mo. —April 13, The Armed Services YMCA has held their annual Fabulous Fakes Benefit Luncheon. The luncheon was held at the Pershing Community Center on Fort Leonard Wood for an excited crowd. The YMCA raises funds for 30 programs each month reaching over 10,000 participants in 2011. Additional funding is given to the Raytheon Award, Women’s Day, summer camps for children and also Family Camp Weekend.
Each of the volunteer groups paraded around the room in the Parade of the Stars. Participating groups were: Flo’s from the 50s Diner-MSCoE, T-Birds and Pink Ladies-Balfour Beatty Communities, Mayberry F.L.W. (Andy Griffith Show)-Garrison Command, Sakura, the Geisha-Security Bank, Scuba Steve-Lynch’s Furniture, Top Model- The International Group, LMFAO- 3rd Chemical Brigade, Bombs Away- Fort Wood Hotels, Jersey Shore- Mid MO Credit Union, “Curl A Girl”- The Body Blasters, Edward Scissorhands- Headlines Salon, MP Angels- MP Spouses, Prom Queens- Repeat Boutique and Reporter Connie Chung.
After the parade, groups mingled around the room selling raffle tickets in an effort to raise money for the Y as well as arresting individuals and sending them to “jail”.
The People’s Choice awards for the Best Fakes went to LMFAO of the 3rd Chemical Brigade. Bombs Away came in 2nd with MP Angels hot on their tails.
Fabulous Fakes and the YMCA raised over $6,000 during the luncheon to help support families to attend their Annual Family Camp Weekend.
