Fort Bragg is the worlds most populated military installation in the world. This means that the Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg simply cannot serve Fort Bragg's military population alone - we rely on support from volunteers to meet the needs of families stationed here.
Volunteers truly are the driving force behind many of the programs and services we provide military families. Below are some of The Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg's current needs for volunteers! Whether you have an hour to volunteer or days, we are so appreciative for assistance.
Baby Bundle Delivery: 365 days each year volunteers deliver baby bundles (bags full of newborn supplies) to new parents, rank E-5 and below, at Womack Army Medical Center. Volunteers are needed between 9-10 am stop by ASYMCA offices collect the deliveries for the day and then take to Womack Army Medical Center for delivery. Volunteers sign-up as available with their schedule.
Operation Kid Comfort quilting kit assembly: This is free program for military children to receive either a quilt or pillowcase with pictures of their deployed parent. This program is designed to comfort military children throughout the duration of a parent’s deployment and is open to any military child whose deployed parent is stationed in North or South Carolina. Volunteers are needed to assemble kits that are pre-packaged for our volunteer quilters throughout the country. Volunteer assistance would be welcome to measure and cut fabrics, compile fabrics to ensure cohesive look for quilts/pillows, and package all materials in bags for easy distribution to quilters. The Armed Services YMCA Fort Bragg offers this program year round to military children, meaning volunteer opportunities are continually available.
Bragg Worthy Gowns sorting and inventory: This program offers any DoD card holder the opportunity to rent women's formal gowns for only $10 (gowns must be dry cleaned upon return, we offer a $10 voucher for dry cleaning). Recently, our gowns moved location to a new room in our building and volunteer assistance is needed to help sort the dresses onto new racks by size and remove any dresses that have defects (stains, rips, etc.)
The ASYMCA has numerous other opportunities for volunteering as well. From administration, marketing, program support, special event work - you name it! If you are looking to get involved, please contact Trinette Slaughter, administrative assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 910-436-0500.
