The Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads (ASYMCA HR) has a robust set of programs and services that is specifically designed to reduce the challenges of life for local military families. We serve all branches – Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Bolstering the strength, health and resiliency of our nation’s young enlisted families is what we do, every day. The commitment of these warrior families and their service members is intrepid. Our commitment is the same, supported by a generous Hampton Roads community.
When you hear “YMCA” you think exercise, swimming and other community based programs that enhance the spirit, mind and body. But at the ASYMCA HR, we serve a unique community with unique experiences that are shared only among our young enlisted military families. We help create an environment where the service member can focus on their mission while their young family is armed with vital resources on the home front. The impact is a stronger military family and a more robust military community. HOW WE HELP and YOUR IMPACT From child development initiatives, building family support systems, providing a hand up during challenge, and honoring the impact of local service, the ASYMCA HR is strengthening junior enlisted military families. The challenges and experiences are unique, the impact is real – the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads has the backs of our military families with the support of generous individuals, businesses and foundations from our community.

OUR JOINT COMMITMENT Your support is critical. The Armed Services YMCA is not a federal entity. We are not a part of the Department of Defense or any of its components and we have no government status. We are an independent, non-profit charitable organization serving one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our junior enlisted service members and their dependents.
While most of our programs and services are provided at no cost, our Before and After Child Development programs and Summer Camp Retreats have nominal military rank-based fees. We provide scholarship underwriting for those in most need. Your philanthropic support is vital to all our ongoing programming and services to build strong, healthy and resilient military families in Hampton Roads.
