Our Fleet Readiness Programs help build resiliency by offering no-cost military programs that help build morale and strengthen military families.

Family Readiness Group Meetings

Looking for a place to have your Family Readiness Group meetings? Look no further, we are here to help! Keep all the military spouses informed of events that will be occurring during ship’s deployment while meeting at a child friendly location. No fees are charged to the command and a limited number of groups are able to receive no cost child minding. To check on current availability, contact our Fleet Readiness Director Jamie Brown.

Testimonial: “As a Family Readiness Group president, my goal is to provide an opportunity for families to come together. We are trying to balance the stress of everyday life while also having a loved one in the military, which brings much uncertainty to our lives. Through the friendships built at FRG meetings, we are able to help one another and build a sense of community in a city we might otherwise have never called home. We are very thankful for the ASYMCA, which helps make all of this possible. The facility is the ideal meeting location for our group. We utilize the upstairs classroom for our meeting, which often involves a craft project. Because the location is free to use, we are able to devote more of our budget to morale boosting activities for both adults and children alike. Additionally, the option of childcare during our meetings is exactly what we need! Similar to many other military spouses who stay home with their children, I value the adult conversation and time with FRG members without having to worry about the safety of my daughters. Overall, the ASYMCA has exceeded our expectations while the location, childcare, and affordability have helped strengthen our FRG since our homeport change early last year. We are very thankful for their quality services.” Merri Mariano, HSC-7 FRG President

Ship Deployments and Homecomings

We know how tough it is to say goodbye and how exciting it is when they return home! The Armed Services YMCA can offer support with pre-deployment briefs and can be pier-side with activities to celebrate the military member’s return home.

Holiday Joy – Holiday Assistance

Our  Holiday Assistance programs vary each year, but holiday help is generated through a military command based referral system. We give Thanksgiving turkeys and food boxes to military families who would not otherwise be able to afford the celebratory meal. We also help families with small gifts for Christmas. In 2015 we also received funding to send a number of military members and their families home for the holidays. Holiday programs for 2016 will be posted in early September.

Emergency Food Assistance

We offer a limited number commissary gift cards to members facing financial crisis as funds are available. This is a referral based program and can only be utilized once per year. Referrals are required from one of the following sources: Fleet and Family Support Centers, Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, a Command Financial Specialist or a Chaplain.
