Honoring Six Outstanding Military Members and their Families
On November 7, 2018 the Armed Services YMCA Hawaii will host Celebrating the Military Family breakfast, supported by Huntington Ingalls Industries and other generous community members, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballrooms from 7:30 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. This unique event provides community and military leaders the opportunity to honor one family from each of the six service branches (United States Army, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, United States Air Force, United States Coast Guard and Hawaii National Guard) and recognize their service and sacrifice.
The commitment and sacrifice of the six military honoree families are incredibly inspirational. The honorees range from seasoned service members who have overcome extreme hardship, to dual active duty couples balancing demanding careers, deployments and children, to a young service member who has already demonstrated selfless service as she becomes her youngest sibling's guardian. We recognize that service in the military means that in some way, each family member also serves. This special morning acknowledges and honors the entire family.
Celebrating the Military Family coincides with Military Family Month, which was established in 1993 by the Armed Services YMCA, with the U.S. government recognizing the occasion every year since. Each November, Armed Services YMCA observes Military Family Month in demonstration of the nation’s support and commitment to the families of military personnel. As we prepare to honor our military families, would you consider doing the same by supporting the programs that support them? How better to show them you care? Because when you pause to think about it, routine military life is anything but routine – the ordinary is extraordinary.
Mahalo for helping celebrate military families and for helping Strengthen our Military `Ohana in Hawaii.
