A Message to ASYMCA Hawai`i Members and Parents
A version of this letter was distributed on March 18, 2020
Your health and safety, and that of our staff is of the utmost importance. Please take care of yourselves and look out for each other.
In keeping with our base commanders’ guidance, Spring Break is extended for all Armed Services YMCA Hawai`i early learning programs including PlayMorning, Early Learning Readiness, and Parent Participation Preschool – Pueo, Honu, and Nai`a classes. We expect programs to resume on Monday, April 6, 2020.
The base COVID-19 response guidelines are updated frequently. We will continue to monitor and assess the situation and make informed decisions about our operations with your best interest in mind.
In the meantime, online classes will be offered via Zoom.com. Parent Participation Preschool teachers are hard at work planning for daily check-ins and condensed, 20 minute classes. Early Learning Readiness and PlayMorning classes will also have short lessons and song & story time online. Each of these opportunities will be a fun interactive online experience for your child where they can see their teachers and classmates. During this time of social distancing, we are excited to continue your child’s social and educational advancement. We encourage you to enjoy this online opportunity with your child. More information about online classes will be available soon.
All ASYMCA Hawai`i branch offices are open and operating with enhanced sanitation, hygiene, and disinfecting protocols. We are still offering essential programs such as Food for Families (Food Pantry and `Ohana Food Drop) and emergency financial assistance. Our business hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
It’s been a busy Spring Break. ASYMCA Hawai`i staff are planning for online classes and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! Enhanced sanitation, hygiene, and disinfecting protocols are in effect with all hands on deck.
Mahalo nui loa for your patience during this unprecedented time. With the Armed Services YMCA, you’re not just a member of the military or a military dependent; you are the reason we do what we do. We consider it an honor to help nurture the potential of your children, improve the wellbeing of military families, help reduce isolation when away from our loved ones and provide deployment support. For us, it’s a privilege to serve those who sacrifice so much on behalf of our nation. Strong Families. Strong Community. Strong Nation.
