The Armed Services YMCA (ASY) Operation Hero/Kid’s Care Club (Operation Hero/KCC) will host their annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction on May 16th, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the MCCS Community Center aboard the 29 Palms Marine Corps base. The event is open to all Active Duty military and their families and any civilians who have access to the base – last year more than 200 Active Duty and their families attended the event. Operation Hero participants will put there lessons about the importance of volunteering to work as they serve dinner to their families and the public. The event will also include a silent auction with some amazing gift baskets and prizes available for bidding!

Tickets for this event are available from Operation Hero Participants as well as at the ASY office, which is open Monday-Friday, 0830-1600.

All proceeds will benefit the ASY Operation Hero/KCC after school enrichment program. This program is offered to 2nd – 6th grade students of military families at Condor Elementary School. Operation Hero/KCC  teaches the importance of knowing how to handle feelings, how to deal with bullying, the important of volunteering in the community, and more. The children participate in service projects throughout the year; past projects have included making backpacks for children at Loma Linda Children’s Cancer Center and making stockings and Easter baskets for children in CPS (Child Protective Services).
